Wanting to upgrade non-turbo impreza with sti engine?

I have a subie without turbo (rs 2.5) which I’m thinking of upgrading to sti engine. Now I would like to know whether anyone has ever done that? consider my car use a different ecu is that means i need to buy a new ecu for turbo engine? should I get oringinal or after market brands? where can I find these people that can do the tuning. Thx guys

Those cars are pretty much the same as far as mountings and bolt patterns and such. Many people swap engines and transmissions regularly even before the STI trim was available in the U.S. The best information about tuning would be on Australian websites. Google and you’ll find tons of information, everything is in english and the Aussies love subaru’s and love to help out.

I would just build the RS block and buy the STI upgrade parts (many boosted RS’s on the street). As far as ecu’s go, I would go full standalone with all the goodies. But be warned, the scooby doo’s are an advanced tuner’s car and the best pick for heavy duty off road racing.
